Een goede medische dienstverlening waarbij de belangen van patiënten centraal staan, daar zouden goede deontologische regels mee voor moeten zorgen. Maar een goede deontologische code, wat is dat nu? Net dat is de focus van dit boek. De vraag wordt gesteld of een beroepscodificatie van deontologische regels wel voldoende garanties biedt op goede gezondheidszorgen. Daarnaast wordt nagegaan op welke manier de rechtmatigheid, de coherentie, de duidelijkheid en de uitvoerbaarheid van de deontologische regels gegarandeerd kunnen worden. Tot slot volgt de formulering van een voorstel tot een ‘Basiscode voor medische deontologie’. Het boek biedt vanuit verschillende invalshoeken een geïntegreerde en vernieuwde blik op het ‘medisch professionalisme’ met verwijzingen naar Belgische, Nederlandse, Franse, Amerikaanse, Britse en internationale juridische, ethische en sociologische literatuur. This book brings together conceptual, theoretical, policy-based, and empirical contributions from multidisciplinary lenses to bridge the existing knowledge gap in the field of medicine, entrepreneurship and health economics. Lukman Raimi is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship in the School of Business and Economics (SBE), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). He was formerly an Assistant Professor and the Chair of Entrepreneurship/Coordinator of the Graduate Program at the American University of Nigeria (AUN). He had also served as the Director Centre for Entrepreneurship in AUN. He is an Entrepreneurship Educator trained at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Ahmedabad, India under the World Bank-Step B Project. Ibrahim Adekunle Oreagba is a Consultant Pharmacist and Clinical Pharmacologist with a Masters and Doctorate degree in Pharmacology. He is a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists. He is a Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Toxicology, College of Medicine University of Lagos Idi-araba. He is currently a team lead at the African Centre of Excellence for Drug Research Herbal Medicine Development and Regulatory Science University of Lagos. An immediate past Editor-in-Chief of the West African Journal of Pharmacy, one-time Editor-in-Chief of the Nigerian Journal of Pharmacy, currently an Editor in the West African Journal of Pharmacology and Drug Research, and an Editorial Consultant for the Nigerian Quarterly Journal of Hospital Medicine, Journal of Basic Medical Sciences and the Journal of Basic and Social Pharmacy Research.

In gesellschaftlichen Krisensituationen - wie etwa einem länger andauernden Stromausfall - wird selten an Menschen gedacht, die besondere Formen der Hilfe benötigen. Dies trifft zum Beispiel auf jene zu, die zu Hause von ihren Familien oder von Pflegediensten versorgt werden. Am Beispiel dieser Problemstellung erläutern die Beiträge des Bandes exemplarisch, welche Hilfeleistungen Pflegebedürftige und ihre Angehörigen benötigen und wie dies durch den Katastrophenschutz berücksichtigt werden kann. Eine theoretische Diskussion des Resilienzkonzepts sowie die Auseinandersetzung mit der kontextuellen Wissensgenerierung im Rahmen einer Modellregion bilden die Grundlage für die transdisziplinär angelegte Forschung.

"Objet de fascination et de fantasmes, le corps féminin est tantôt magnifié, tantôt réifié et parfois même voilé. C'est dire combien le corps féminin est source de toutes les ambiguïtés. C'est dans ses rapports avec la biomédecine que le corps de la femme est examiné dans cet ouvrage. En effet, entre les possibilités offertes aux femmes non seulement de procréer (avec la procréation médicalement assistée) ou de refuser de le faire (contraception, stérilisation volontaire, interruption de grossesse), mais aussi de prendre connaissance d'une prédisposition génétique grâce aux tests mis sur le marché ou d'améliorer esthétiquement leur image, une question récurrente se dégage : par ses progrès vertigineux, la biomédecine, qui engendre aujourd'hui une extrême médicalisation du corps, libère-t-elle la femme ? N'est-elle pas également un facteur d'aliénation face aux risques d'instrumentalisation du corps ou de ses éléments ? Les auteurs de cet ouvrage, juristes, anthropologues, philosophes, sociologues et médecins, se sont penchés sur ces questions. Les contributions regroupées dans cette étude internationale et pluridisciplinaire analysent, dans dix-neuf pays, la réalité des développements fulgurants de la biomédecine sur le corps féminin. Sont ainsi comparés pour la première fois de nombreux systèmes, européens, africains, nord et sud-américains, mais également chinois et japonais. This book features articles by more than twenty experienced teachers of ethics who are committed to the idea that ethics can and should be taught virtually anywhere in the education curriculum. They explore a variety of ways in which this might best be done. Traditionally confined largely to programs in philosophy and religion, the teaching of ethics has in recent decades spread across the curriculum education. The contributors to this book discuss the rationale for supporting such efforts, the variety of challenges these efforts face, and the sorts of benefits faculty and students who participate in ethics across the curriculum endeavors can expect. An overriding theme of this book is that the teaching of ethics should not be restricted to one or two courses in philosophy or religion programs, but rather be addressed wherever relevant anywhere in the curriculum. For example, accredited engineering programs are expected to ensure that their students are introduced to the ethical dimensions of engineering. This can involve consideration of ethical issues within particular areas of engineering (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical) as distinctive segments of certain courses (e.g., those that focus on design problems), or as a full semester course in ethics in engineering. Similar approaches can be taken in nursing, medicine, law, social work, psychology, accountancy, management, and so on. That is, some emphasis on ethics can be expected to be found in broad range of academic disciplines. However, many ethical issues require careful attention from the perspectives of several disciplines at once, and in ways that require their joining hands. Recognizing that adequately addressing many ethical issues may require the inclusion of perspectives from a variety of disciplines makes apparent the need for effective communication and reflection across disciplines, not simply within them. This, in turn, suggests that faculty and their students can benefit from special programs that are designed to include participants from a variety of disciplines. Such programs will be a central feature of this book. Although some differences might arise in how such issues might best be discussed across different parts of the curriculum, these discussions might be joined in ways that help students, faculty, administrators, and the wider public education better appreciate their shared ethical ground.
